Adopting an animal from the SPCA

Do you have room in your life for a special companion? Here at the Auckland SPCA, we try to ensure that all healthy animals coming into our care are offered the chance to be placed in loving new homes.

Our aim is to match the right animal with the right family so that the adoption is a permanent and successful.

With this in mind, we take time to find out a little about you, your lifestyle, your property and your experience with animals - this is especially the case with adoption of puppies and dogs.

If you live in the Auckland area we invite you to come and visit the Animal Village in Mangere, where our friendly staff can advise you on:

• animal ages and breeds
• animal temperament and training
• growth expectancy of younger animals
• individual animal history (as much as we know)
• animal interaction with other pets you may already have
• making a selection which best suits your lifestyle and family

If you are outside the Auckland area in New Zealand, you can still visit your local SPCA , who will be glad to assist you in choosing your companion animal.

Overview

For well over a century the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Auckland has dedicated itself to the care of animals in need and to their rehabilitation and adjustment to new and loving homes.

Auckland SPCA found homes for 5,147 companion animals last year. The animals which come into our village have so much to offer and sometimes have survived unimaginable adversity. We believe that they deserve a second chance.

Village Shop

While you are at the Village, please don't leave without visiting our on-site Village Shop, where you'll find everything you need for your adopted companion animal, iincluding food bowls, worming tablets, quality pet food, toys, baskets, carry cages, flea treatments, and lots more.

We also have a range of SPCA-branded merchandise, to show friends and family you support the SPCA!
