Sometimes it's not possible to make a financial contribution to the SPCA, but you can still help the animals by becoming an SPCA Volunteer and donating your time toward one of our Programmes.
For well over a century the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Auckland, has provided help and comfort to animals in need.
At our Animal Village in Mangere, Auckland, over 20,000 animals per year fall into the loving and professional care of our dedicated staff who tend to their injuries, relieve their pain, and rekindle the trust and companionship many have lost through abuse and neglect.
Thank you for your interest in the SPCA Auckland Volunteer Programme
Volunteering is a great opportunity to feel great about yourself as you know that you are giving back to the community. The SPCA is a very rewarding place for animal lovers as you will be able to see animals finding homes and provide them with the care and love that they need during their stay at our village.
SPCA volunteers are ambassadors for the SPCA and take great pride in fulfilling their role in a professional manner. As a volunteer at the SPCA, you will gain skills that you will be able to use for a life time, such as health and safety around animals, communication skills and dealing with the public, also participating in the improvement of your community. All skills that can boost your CV!
All we need is for you to be 18 years or over and give us a commitment of at least 12 months for one of our programmes:

Outreach Programme
Our Outreach Volunteers visit the elderly, the terminally ill, and those with ageing disorders in rest homes, hospitals and other establishments, taking their animals with them to share with those who have no contact with companion animals.
You'll need an animal that is social, confident and reliable in it's behaviour, and loves people and enjoys being petted. The therapeutic value passed from animal to patients is a truly rewarding experience no matter what family pet you involve.
Events & Fundraising
We need people who are outgoing, friendly, definitely reliable and not afraid to 'muck-in' and help get everything organised for the event & raise valuable funds for the SPCA.
Bucket Rattlers
It is an important method of raising funds and is a task that requires skill and enthusiasm and above all heaps of energy. Bucket rattling can be rewarding and fun - especially as you see the bucket fill up!
Fundraising
SPCA Auckland's Fundraising Team is in search of a group of enthusiastic volunteers to assist them with maintaining donation boxes that are out in our community at various retail sites. This role will provide you with a chance to support the SPCA Auckland within the comfort of your own community on schedule that fits your needs.
Our donation boxes are a great source of income and it is important that these boxes are maintained on a regular basis and that the sites that hold these boxes receive the support they need.
Cutting up sheet and blankets into squares for the animals, making plaited rope toys for our dogs to use as enrichment toys. This can be done at home and you can involve all the family! If you have children under 18 years of age who wish to help the SPCA, this is one of the ways that they can become involved.
